“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
When suffering presses in, it’s easy to wonder if God’s love has grown thin. We may look at the pain in our lives and quietly ask, Has He forgotten me?
Scripture answers that question with a resounding no. God’s love is not measured by the ease of our circumstances but by the depth of His sacrifice. “God demonstrates His own love toward us” — not by removing every hardship, but by giving His own Son to bear our greatest burden: the guilt and penalty of our sin.
The cross stands as the unshakable proof of that love. Before we sought Him, before we repented, before we even cared—Christ died for us. At the center of history is a Savior who willingly entered our suffering, carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4), and endured the wrath of God in our place. If He was willing to do that when we were His enemies, how much more will He care for us now as His children?
This doesn’t mean we will always understand His purposes in suffering. But it does mean we can trust His heart. When the enemy whispers that God has abandoned you, look to the cross. When you feel forgotten, remember the nails, the blood, the crown of thorns. When your prayers seem unanswered, remember that the greatest answer has already been given—Jesus Himself.
Suffering may tempt you to measure God’s love by what you see today. The cross invites you to measure it by what He has already done for you.

Prayer Prompt
Lord, thank You for proving Your love through the cross. When my heart doubts and my circumstances confuse me, help me to remember what You have already done, and trust that You will not abandon me now.
