“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
Suffering doesn’t only bring pain—it often brings temptation. In our weakness, we may be tempted to doubt God’s goodness, to escape through sinful choices, or to lash out in anger and bitterness. Trials can expose the cracks in our faith, making us more vulnerable than usual to the enemy’s lies.
Job’s wife urged him to “curse God and die” (Job 2:9) in the middle of his grief and loss. The temptation to give up on God can feel strongest when life is hardest. Jesus Himself was tempted in the wilderness after forty days of fasting—a moment of physical weakness that the enemy tried to exploit.
But God is faithful. He never leaves us alone in our temptations, even in the middle of suffering. His Spirit strengthens us to resist, His Word exposes the enemy’s schemes, and His promises give us solid ground to stand on. The “way of escape” He provides is not always the removal of the trial—it is often the power to endure it without sinning.
When suffering brings temptation, we are not powerless victims. By God’s grace, we can turn those moments into victories of faith. Every time we choose trust over doubt, obedience over rebellion, and worship over complaint, we declare that our hope is in Him, not in our circumstances.

Prayer Prompt
